The approved mixed protamine human insulin injection (30R) is premixed insulin composed of 30% soluble human insulin and 70% protamine human insulin. The compound is a prandial insulin that has been studied to be safe and effective in maintaining Type-2 Diabetes (T2D) patients’ blood glucose and HbA1c in a Phase III trial.

In China, proper management of diabetes is a challenge, especially in rural areas. Increased medical expenses may be attributed to poor insulin adherence, which can result in diabetic complications1. Data collected from an open-label, non-randomized, non-interventional, multi-center clinical observational study in 4,837 T2D participants in China, indicated that 38% of patients use premixed human insulin as part of initial treatment regimens2. According to the Catalog of Medicines Covered by the National Medical Insurance System, pre-mixed human insulins are considered Class A drugs, with a reimbursement ratio of 100%3.
